Posting and Sharing a blog via IRM Newsroom

Step 1: Create a new post.

From the WordPress dashboard’s menu, click “Add New” under “Posts.”

Then add the title of your blog post and its content at the Visual editor setting. This setting lets you create, edit and format your content like a word processor. Click here to learn how you can stylise your content and add links through the editing icons at the top of the text box.

Step 2: Smarten up your blog post.

To add images or videos in your post, place the cursor where you want to insert the image or video and click “Add Media” at the top of the edit box.

A pop-up box will then appear (like the one below), where you can select an image or video from your Media Library. Add the “Title,” “Caption” and “Alt Text” of the image or video on the right side of the pop-up then tap “Insert into post.”

If you want to add a new image or video, just click the “Upload Files” button from the pop-up and you will be directed to the box below. When you tap the “Select Files” button, a new box will pop-up where you can choose the image or video from your files. Once you’ve chosen your image, hit “Insert into post.”

Different post formats will be found in the “Format” box, at the right side of the edit text box below the “Publish” box. “Standard” is the default format for a regular text post, though it may contain images and videos.

You can set the Categories and Tags for your blog post in the boxes below the “Format” box. Categories serve as a broad grouping of post topics, while Tags are used to describe your post in more detail.

To feature an image in your blog, click the “Set featured image” link in the “Featured Image” box to direct you to the Media Library. Then follow the steps to adding an image.

You can check your blog’s search engine optimisation features through the SEO box at the bottom of the new post’s page. Just fill in the appropriate boxes with the right meta description and focus keyword and be guided by the “Content Analysis” section. Tap this link for a beginner’s guide to SEO. However, you can skip this part if you’re not ready for SEO.

Step 3: Publish or schedule your blog post.

Select “Save Draft” to save your post and “Preview” to see how it would look when published on your website. These buttons are found in the “Publish” box at the right side of your new post. Once you’re happy with your post, click the “Publish” button for immediate posting. Alternatively, you can schedule the post by setting the date and time you want it published.

Step 4: Share your blog post.

After you’ve published your blog post, simply login to HQi and navigate to the “Pending” tab under “IRM Newsroom.”

Select the channels where you want to publish your blog: your website, via email or as a link in your social media channels. Then click “Release” and “Yes” to post the blog simultaneously in such channels.

Blogging Tip: Regularly schedule your posts if you want your investor audience to get used to checking your website for new blog posts. Your posts can be weekly, bi-weekly or monthly -- all up to you. Sharing your write-ups through social media helps alert your stakeholders about your latest news too.
